Day 1: Arriving in New Zealand

This is a waka. If you didn't know what one was. 

Activity 2: Setting Sail
The first settlers to come to New Zealand must
have been really brave! They had to leave
their original homes and sail thousands of
miles across the ocean on a special boat
called a ‘waka’ to reach New Zealand.



Imagine that you were on board one of the
wakas. On your blog, write a short letter to a
friend telling them about your voyage to New
Zealand. In the letter be sure to tell them how
you feel about moving to a new country. If it
was me, I would have felt really nervous

Dear Mum

We have been sailing for Five days and I'm so nervous I don't know what to expect. How is Unique and the family back there can tell them I miss them and I'll send them a letter soon. We are 5000 miles to New Zealand and the friends I have made on the waka is AMAZING there so helpful and just the people back home. I can't wait to tell you all about it. The food is difference but okay I like your food better.

Day 1: Arriving in New Zealand SLJ

For the Summer Learning Journey we have to practice challenges. Here is what I did today.  

It is widely believed that the first

people to arrive in New Zealand

came from Polynesia. Most

historians believe that they

landed in New Zealand over 700

years ago. Although they were

originally from many different

countries, these settlers learned

to live together and, eventually,

formed their own distinct culture

known as ‘Māori.’ Māori have

their own language, traditions,

and culture.

Follow this link to read a short story about a famous man in Māori mythology –

Maui. On your blog, post three facts that you learned about this interesting

man. What other stories have you heard about Maui?

Maui is a strong and brave man his a great fisher. He is in the movie Moana and he is in a book called The Fish of Maui.

Summer Learning Journey 2018-2019 Prize

How to ask math questions

 

In Math we have been leaning to ask math questions from the picture we are shown. I found asking the questions he easy and the hard thing was for me was putting it into a questions.

Willow the Wednesday fairy

This week we went to the library and I got the book  Willow the Wednesday Fairy and here is want I think about it.

Kirsty and Rachel wore at the art and craft fun day at the community center. They were having so much fun when they where making their bracelets. A little fairy was inside a little box. her fairy dust lend the girls to her. The girls had to follow a trail of golden glitter to the flag. BUT they found out that Willow's flag had got into a pile of fabric and the flag was in there and sadly it got cut up. Two of the goblins have got a piece of the flag and stuff they found around the craft stalls. Lucky Kristy had a idea. The idea work they had to distract the goblins with a orangery butterfly. Rachel;l got the piece of the flag and then they ran to find the next one. They found the next piece on the floor under a table. With a little fairy magic the flag was back together.

Understating Song Lyrics

In Literacy we have been leaning about understanding the meaning of song lyrics. We listened to two songs, they were called Treasure by Bruno Mars and Man in the Mirror By Michel Jackson.

We discussed and brainstormed the song title meanings. We then looked at the lyrics and that what they meant.
Treasure by Bruno Mars is about girl he thought was special and Man in the Mirror By Michel Jackson is about him trying to make a change in the world.

Thea The Thursday Fairy

This week we went to the library and I got the book Thea The Thursday Fairy and here is want I think about it.


The story it self is amazing and I love it.

Rachel and Kirsty are the best of friends and today their where at the Morristown Aquarium in Tippington Town. And the amazing thing about them is they have friends that we don't and this friends are fairies and today their are going to meet Thea The Thursday Fairy.


Thea needs help to find her Thursday flag but Rachel, Kirsty and her are not the only ones looking fro it Jack Frost and his goblins are looking for the flag and Jack Frost is making trouble all the time. The goblins want the fun to them self so much they swam with the sharks!

Megan The Monday Fairy

This week we went to the library and I got the book called Megan The Monday Fairy Fairy and here is want I think about it.


The story it self is amazing and I love it.



Rachel and Kirsty are the best of friends and today there were at the Rainbow Shopping Center in Tippington Town. They meet Megan and all of the Fun Day Fairies BUT then Jack Frost goblins sold them and take them to the ice castle. BUT Jack Frost did't like it at all and sent them to the human world. And Rachel, Kirsty and Megan went to the human world to find them and save the weeks.

And that is want they did.

How to brush you teeth

For Health we have been learning about keeping yourself clean. The first thing we did was we watched a video about the importance of brushing your teeth. We had to create a slide of how to teach 5 year old's to brush their teeth. We had to have how long you had to brush it for and when to brush your teeth. The hardest thing I found was to make the characters and making them move. One of my question is how to make it better how? Maybe next time I could make a bathroom to make more sense.
