UM Learning Journey - Creatures

For the school holidays I am taking part in the Uru Manuka learning journey because I like to learn and choose to continue my learning over the holiday break. Today I am doing the second activity. The activity is would I be a Chinchilla or a Porcupine. I would LOVE to be Porcupine because I can protect myself from predators and to keep myself safe. I mean being as soft cute animal would be cool but protecting myself is better to me.

FACTS ABOUT RED PANDAS  Where I got the facts about red pandas from

  • Nepal mountains is the home to red pandas
  • According to the National Zoo rainy and high-altitude forests
  • They really love bamboo
  • Same people think the bamboo has a understory for the red pandas
  • Red pandas are small mammals with long fluffy tails
  • The red and white markings on a red panda is to keep the sun out of their eyes
  • The red panda is NOT related to the panda at all! Weird right
  • Did you know the red panda has a lot of different names like Lesser panda, Cat-bear, bear-cat and fox bear plus a hole lot more.

First thing I did was make all of my Whānau and then add them to different slides and add all of the different word s in Maori and translate them. I really liked making this slideshow and making it with different languages in it. I found it a bit different but thought it was really good for my first time. Here is my slideshow hope you enjoy it. Inquiry-Jack and The beanstalk

In Inquiry we got to choose a group out of Towers, Bridges, Vehicles & Parachutes. I choose Parachutes as I found this the most exiting one.

First thing I had to do was get into a group or stay by myself but choose to go in a group. My group was Keah, Aone, Aliyah & me of cause. Then we had to plan our design of our parachute.

We came up with a lot of ideas but came up with one. It was Keah's idea we had three things a Bag, String & a Napkin. We didn't want a napkin but we got it.

The first photo. What we made With the napkin.
We worked with napkin and made this...

Challenge: Help Jack escape from the giant. He must jump from the top of the beanstalk and land safely on the ground.

You allowed to choose 2 things from the table and 1 piece of string. You have the choice of paper napkins, large and small cupcake liners,

This is what Miss McGinnitey give us to see what we could make.
Here are our plans...
